Review

The compact, portable Celebrate serger is Baby Lock’s successor to the Eclipse models. While described as one of their basic models, the Celebrate does include several of their latest technological developments, including Jet Air looper threading, automatic needle threader and a very useful fabric control system. The ease-of-use factor makes it a great option for both beginners and more experienced serger users. While, like most sergers, it’s somewhat noisy when operating it at top speed, there’s little to no vibration, which gives you better control over your sewing projects.

Stitch Options

This serger offers you a 2-3-4-thread overlock stitch option, flat lock and rolled hem stitches. Standard stitch widths can be manually adjusted between 1.5 mm and 7.5 mm and stitch lengths are adjustable from 0.75 mm to 4 mm. The stitch control dial is conveniently located at the front of the right side of the machine.

Product Features

Jet-Air Looper Threading

There are a few manual features on the Celebrate, but threading the loopers isn’t one of them. Baby Lock’s proprietary Jet Air threading system makes looper threading a one-touch function. Pushing a lever instantly sends each looper thread smoothly through the specially designed tubes without having to deal with any thread guides. Once you press that lever, it’s time to sew!

Single Unit Differential Feed

Baby Lock took the Celebrate to a higher level of technology with the inclusion of a more efficient single-unit feed dog mechanism. In addition to ensuring stronger, more precise fabric feeding, this adjustable unit provides you with more consistent gathering results on all fabric types. This differential feed provides a true 2-to-1 ratio when gathering and a 3-to-4 ratio when working on stretchy fabrics.

Tubular Looper System

The Baby Lock Celebrate includes their unique protective looper system that prevents having to follow frustrating thread guides, deal with tangled threads, or repair misaligned loopers. Being able to thread each protective tube in any order you choose is another plus. It’s as easy as inserting each looper thread into a port and pressing a lever. This model includes a comprehensive threading guide inside the looper cover for easy reference.

Fabric Support System

This exclusive system ensures that every stitch is balanced, flat, and as smooth as satin – no matter how fast you’re sewing. It provides you with complete control over all fabric types while producing the same perfect stitches on all of them. The system includes built-in stitch fingers that move in concert with the knife blade, which allows it to make seam adjustments that perfectly match the cutting width.

Warranties

The Baby Lock Celebrate includes a 25-year limited warranty, a 10-year warranty on parts, a 5-year warranty on electrical components and 1-year coverage on labor.

Verdict

Like all Baby Lock sergers, the Celebrate is a finely tuned, well-designed serger machine that’s built to last. These qualities and the several handy bells and whistles included on this serger are reflected in the price, but it’s not the most expensive machine in their lineup. In addition to the time-saving automatic features and the protective tubular looper system, the Celebrate includes an advanced cutting system with a larger bite radius, vertical needle penetration and an impressive presser foot lift of up to 6 mm. This model might cost more than other semi-automatic sergers, but it’s a Baby Lock. If you’re serious about serging, this says it all.
