Product Features
Adjustable Differential Feed Ratio
The Brother Designio Series DZ1234 Serger features an adjustable differential feed that allows the machine to sew various fabrics whether delicate or thick. The differential feed also prevents fabrics form stretching or stitches from breaking in knit fabrics. The differential feed ratio ranges from 0.7 to 2.0.
Being able to choose the settings for the differential feed makes all the difference when producing gathers or ruffles as you operate the machine. You can instantly adjust the speed of either feed dog beneath the presser foot by pressing a lever on the side of the serger. In addition to creating perfect gathers, this option allows you to prevent puckering on sheer or lightweight fabrics as they move beneath the needles. The differential feed ratio is adjustable between 0.7 and 2.0.
Stitch Width Control
The stitch width can be adjusted from 3 to 7 millimeters. The best stitch width will be one that creates flat seam finishes, a characteristic that is essential on lighter fabrics. Being able to adjust the stitch width is vital for producing perfectly flat stitches, especially when working on delicate or sheer fabrics.
Interchangeable Feet
The DZ1234 has three interchangeable feet: a gathering foot, piping foot and blind hem stitch foot. The gathering foot gathers, connects fabric and finishes edges. The foot secures fabric to eliminate the need for pins while finishing edges. The piping foot guides narrow piping and holds zippers in place while also facilitating installation of piping. The blind hem stitch foot helps stitch and join edges or attach other pieces of fabric. The adjustable guide makes it useful for creating decorative and functional stitches.
Free Arm
The free arm makes it easier to sew areas that are hard to reach such as sleeves, collars, pant legs and small children’s items. The removable table section makes serging these components quick and easy. This Brother model offers you the options of working on a flatbed surface or making an easy change to a free arm work area. Simply remove the bed extension when you wish to put a clean, professional finish on sleeves, pants legs, collars or other small or typically hard to reach areas.
Needles
The DZ1234 uses the same standard needles used in sewing machines. This allows it to create edges and hems for a variety of fabrics including stretchy material, linens and formal wear, as well as creating decorative edges.
Color-Coded
The serger is color-coded to make threading a breeze. The system works for upper and lower looper threading. Thread changes are also made quicker with all thread types. The system makes learning this process a far less complicated experience, while also simplifies finding and locking in the perfect thread tension for all of the stitches you choose.
Warranties
The DZ1234 is covered by the Brother limited warranty. The warranty period is 1 year from the original purchase date and covers the machine and included accessories. The printed circuit boards are covered for 5 years from the original purchase date, and the chassis unit is covered by warranty for 25 years from the original purchase date.

All the 22 built-in stitch options produce even, flat stitches and the three presser feet included with the serger make producing specialty stitches a snap.
