Review

The Juki MO-623 is one of the company’s Garnet Line models. This little jewel of a machine is very user-friendly, which makes it perfect for beginners or sewing masters. It’s a smooth-running, quiet machine that delivers a constant stream of high-quality, high-speed stitching, seaming and hemming. Versatility is another plus, as it can produce everything from elegant formal garments to sportswear using any quality of thread and many types of fabric, from sheers to knits to denims.

Stitch Options

The Juki MO-623 offers a variety of stitches, including the 3-thread overlock, narrow overlock and rolled hem and the 2-thread overcast. The stitch length can be easily adjusted from a standard 2.5mm up to 4mm with the touch of a dial.

Product Features

Roll Hemming
This Juki model also includes a handy built-in rolled hem feature that’s ready to use at the flip of a switch. This feature eliminates having to stop in the middle of your project to change a plate or install a new presser foot.

Easy Looper Threading
Threading this machine is an easy process, thanks to a built-in path system for each thread that’s color-coded to help you slip the threads into the guides. Fine-tuning and preserving the thread tension is just as easy when using the control dials. Standard tension settings are highlighted for your convenience and the thread guides will keep the thread exactly where it belongs, even when the machine is running at full speed.

Extension Plate with Seam guides
This Juki is also furnished with a specially designed seam guide that will remove any guesswork regarding your seam allowances. The outside cover includes an easy-to-reach control component that can be adjusted to create seams to match your precise specifications.

Presser Foot Functions
While this serger model includes only one presser foot, it’s designed for easy use performing a multitude of functions, including creating overlock stitching, adding elastic, sequins, ribbon or beads to a project or adding extra decorative stitching.

Adjustable Knife
The heavy-duty knife system on this Juki serger features a mechanism that can quickly and safely disengage and retract both the upper and lower knives. In addition, this specialized knife system is controlled by a dedicated drive to guarantee that it consistently provides smooth, even cuts on any type or thickness of fabric.

Warranties

The warranties on the Juki MO-623 are less comprehensive when compared to those offered by other serger manufacturers. The machine carries a 5-year warranty on parts, a 2-year warranty on electric components and a 90-day warranty on labor. All warranties are automatically void if this or other home serger models are used for commercial reasons.

Verdict

The Juki MO-623 is no lightweight when it comes to versatility, performance and reliability, which affords beginners and experts alike the opportunity to gain or sharpen their skills and flex some creative muscles. In addition to being able to produce professional-quality garments, the MO-623 is invaluable when creating fashion accessories, home décor items and crafts.
