  • Exceptional results: This serger produces a professional finish usually only found on high-end machines.

Review

The Janome CoverPro 900 CPX is one of those rare sergers with the power, ease of use and high-quality output of larger, more expensive machines. It provides industrial-strength stitching capabilities with the versatility of a home sewing machine. The long sewing arm and high stitch speed unfailingly produce consistently straight, even stitches that will satisfy even the most demanding seamstress or tailor. The powerful motor produces up to 1,000 stitches professional results on a wide range of projects.

Stitch Options

One of the nice things about the 900CPX is that it features dual needle stitching and up to three-thread cover stitching. There’s a handy quick reference chart on the front panel to make selecting a stitch more convenient. Stitch width is 5mm and the length can be adjusted from 1mm to 4mm.

Product Features

Exclusive STS Function

This Janome model is well known for its groundbreaking Seam Tightening System. This automatic function was developed to help reduce and manage the amount of slack that commonly develops in looper threads while the machine is running. The system gives the user better control, producing consistently tighter, flat, strong stitches.

Vertical Drop Needle

The 900CPX includes a vertical drop needle, part of an exclusive free arm configuration. This function makes swapping needles out easier than other serger models.

Presser Foot Lifter

The convenience of being able to operate it with either hand becomes quickly evident, as the lifter for the presser foot is located directly behind the needle housing.

Work Space

The long sewing arm and large workspace (4 inches by 5.5 inches) helps users put perfectly formed hems on garments of all types. The area is large enough to easily accommodate notoriously large, tough materials such as denim and leather.

Differential Feed

Both the differential feed and stitch length are controlled by easy-to-read dials on the side of the serger. The variable differential feed ratio can be set between 0.5 and 2.25, which helps the user crate and maintain perfect, smooth stitches in all types of smooth or stretchy fabrics.

Warranties

The durability of this serger is evident in the generous multiple warranties offered by the company. This model includes a warranty of 25 years on mechanical parts, one year on labor and two years on electrical components.

Verdict

The Janome CoverPro 900CPX is an excellent machine choice for seamstresses who demand high-speed, precision sewing and professional-grade results. This serger is an industrial-style workhorse, not for those looking for quilting or appliqueing options. If you’re looking for a consistent producer, the Janome 900CPX is that serging machine. It will do everything you expect and more. Best of all, it does it well.
