Review

Even on this basic model, Janome didn’t scrimp on the construction quality. It’s a sturdy little machine that includes enough basic functions to make it an excellent entry-level serger. One of the best features is the rolled hem function. It creates even, attractive results every time. The upper cutting blade is easily retractable and this model does include an adjustable cutting width feature. For the price, this serger offers a decent range of stitch variations.

Stitch Options

The 3- and 4-thread stitch options on the Janome Magnolia 7034D allow you to choose the perfect stitch for any type of fabric. Options include 3- and 4-thread overlock stitches and narrow and rolled hem stitches. Stitch widths on this model include a 2 mm rolled hem stitch, a right needle adjustable width of between 3 mm and 7 mm and a left needle width of 5 mm to 9 mm. The stitch length can be adjusted between 1 mm and 4 mm.

Product Features

Adjustable Thread Tension Control

With all four thread tension controls conveniently located on the front of the machine, setting the correct tension for your needs is a breeze. Finding the right setting for each type of fabric you work with will create the perfect balance between the multiple threads moving through the loopers and needles.

Rolled Hem Feature

The rolled hem feature on the Magnolia allows you to create perfect rolled and narrow hems and decorative lettuce-edged finishes on sheer and lightweight fabrics. Simply move the setting knob on the needle plate to “R” and the serger will automatically roll the trimmed fabric edge over on itself before securing the fabric with an evenly spaced row of fine, almost invisible stitches.

Adjustable Differential Feed

Having an adjustable differential feed on a serger prevents the inconvenience of puckering and stretching on all fabric types. A simple turn of the control dial allows you to select the perfect setting for the fabric you’re using. The differential feed dogs will keep the fabric moving smoothly beneath the needles. The feed ratio can be adjusted between 0.5 mm to 2.2 mm.

Retractable Upper Cutting Knife

The upper cutting blade on the heavy-duty cutting system can be quickly disengaged when it’s not needed, allowing you to easily work on projects that don’t require a trimmed edge. When both blades are engaged, they work together to make consistently clean, measured cuts. This feature is invaluable when working on a variety of projects. In addition, the cutting width of the raw fabric edges can be adjusted from 3 mm to 5 mm, giving you plenty of options in choosing the perfect seam allowance for each stitch you use.

Warranties

The Janome Magnolia 7034D machine is covered by a 25-year warranty on mechanical parts, a 2-year warranty on electrical components and 1 year of coverage on labor.
