The Janome Coverpro 1000CPX is a specialty coverstitch machine that holds up to four spools of thread and can use from one to three needles. The expansive sewing area (4 inches by 5.5 inches) ensures plenty of room for stitching in otherwise difficult areas. Two great features are the detailed graphics on stitch options on the front of the machine and the threading instructions inside the looper cover.
This machine features options for several different stitches, including a single needle/2-thread stitch or chain stitch, a double-needle/3-thread coverstitch and a triple-needle/4-thread triple cover stitch. The stitch width when using all three needles is 6mm.

Janome’s Exclusive Seam Tightening System
One of the most impressive features of the seam tightening system is the fact that it relies on a spring. All other coverstitch machines employ a standard looper to keep the tension tight enough to eliminate the chance of having to deal with extremely loose thread. As a result, the 1000CPX always produces perfectly tight, smooth stitches. This system is so sturdy and reliable that It can be used on thick fabrics, such as denim or wide wale corduroy. The control for the system is conveniently located right under the guide on stitch options on front of the machine.
Easy Looper Threading
A handy color-coded set up and threading guide on the inside looper cover makes this model one of the most user-friendly coverstitch machines on the market. These easily understood graphics not only tell users how to thread the machine, but how to set the needle positions and tension guides for specific stitching functions.
Vertical Needle Drop
In addition to the same familiar vertical needle drop as your home sewing machine, the CoverPro 1000CPX features an added space beneath the needles. The extra room makes switching needles in or out and changing needle positions incredibly easy – especially for those who have difficulty working in tight quarters.
Variable Differential Feed
The differential feed is controlled by clearly-marked dials on the front of the Janome Coverpro 1000CPX. The feed’s ratio ranges between 0.5 and 2.25 so the machine can be easily adjusted to produce smooth, even stitches even in very stretchy fabrics.
Proprietary Freearm Feature
Janome is the only manufacturer to produce coverstitch machines featuring a free arm. This model includes that feature, which allows you to put a professional finish on sleeves, cuffs and other typically hard-to-access areas.
Presser Foot Lifter
Locating the presser foot lifter needle means being able to easily access it without having to look for it or otherwise locate it physically by feeling around for it.
This coverstitch machine is covered by a 25-year warranty on mechanical parts, a 2-year warranty on electrical mechanisms and 1 year of coverage on labor.
The Janome CoverPro 1000CPX might look like a cross between a traditional sewing machine and a serger, but it offers all the power and features of a more expensive commercial-grade machine. While it’s not designed for beginners, it does handle like a traditional sewing machine. There are reasons why this dedicated coverstitch machine unfailingly earns top reviews from professionals and home sewers.
