Review

The Brother 1634D is a fast, efficient machine, allowing users complete control when working on all types of fabrics. Threading the serger is quick and easy, thanks to the lay-in threading system and color-coded guide. The removable free arm allows you to sew cuffs, sleeves, and hem pant legs with ease, and a dial on top of the machine enables you to adjust the height of the presser foot to accommodate different fabric thicknesses.

Stitch Options

In addition to providing users with 22 built-in stitch options, the 1634D can produce smooth, even 1-needle, 3-thread, and 2-needle, 4-thread overlock stitches, a rolled, blind and narrow hem stitch, and ribbon lock stitches. You can easily add flatlock and pin tuck stitches to the machine’s stitch options by purchasing a different presser foot.

The stitch width can be adjusted from 5 mm to 7 mm, allowing you to choose the perfect setting for your needs.

Product Features

Thread Tension Control

This feature allows you to easily adjust the thread tension for all types of stitches. The Brother 1634D also enables you to adjust the tension on each or both needles, providing increased control over the tautness of each stitch. This feature also makes it easier to quickly locate and fix any problems with straying stitches.

Adjustable Differential Feed

The adjustable differential feed controls the movement of the feed dogs that move the fabric through the stitching process. By making certain adjustments, you can operate the feed dogs at the same speed to produce smooth, flat stitches. And by setting the feed dogs to operate at different speeds, you can create beautiful lettuce edges or ruffles on lightweight or sheer fabrics and evenly spaced gathers that stretch with knit fabrics.

Easy-to-Reach Controls

Whether you’re left or right handed, the left-side location of all the serger’s controls are within easy reach. Adjustments can be made while using your right hand to maintain complete control over the fabric.

Retractable Cutting Knife

The serger features a razor-sharp retractable knife blade that will cleanly and quickly trim the edge of the fabric right before it’s stitched. This action produces an even, professional finish on all types of fabrics, garments, and projects. When working on projects that don’t require edge trimming, you can easily retract the knife blade to prevent the cutting function.

Warranties

In addition to free phone support for the life of the machine, the Brother 1634D includes a 25-year limited warranty.

In addition to being easy to thread and use, this machine serges like a dream, producing flat, secure stitches on all types of fabrics. In addition to being easy to thread, the 1634D was designed with the user’s safety in mind: it cannot be operated if the front cover isn’t secured. Brother continues its history of producing affordable, efficient machines with the 1634D.
