This solid embroidery-only machine from Janome features a large, brightly lit 5.5-inch by 5.5-inch work area and a 5-inch by 5-inch embroidery hoop to get you started. A smaller 2-inch by 2-inch hoop is also available as an optional purchase. The embroidery stitches are smooth and evenly spaced and this model isn’t overly complicated to master. It includes plenty of design, pattern, border and lettering and editing options. The touchscreen is black and white, but it’s well designed and easy to use.

The Janome Memory Craft 230E offers you 73 different design options that include 55 designs, 18 patterns and 3 lettering fonts (Script, Gothic and Cheltenham Maximum) in three different sizes. The designs are varied: seasonal, delicate florals, kids’ designs, nature and more. There is also a nice selection of border options. Editing features include the ability to increase size of your designs by 20 percent and decrease them by 10 percent, create mirror images and rotate designs, patterns and monograms from 1 to 45 degrees. You can also combine two separate patterns using the touchscreen.

The black and white touchscreen is brightly lit and easy to navigate, thanks to it being highly intuitive. There’s more than enough built-in memory to store plenty of additional designs, borders, patterns and fonts and you can create your own personal folders for storing uploaded designs via the USB port. You can also access information about designs you’ve already used, including the design’s size, the number of colors used and when you last accessed it.
Automatic Needle Threader
The Janome Memory Craft 230E helps beginners and users with vision problems with its automatic needle threading feature. Once the machine is threaded, the needle can be instantly threaded by simply moving a knob. This model is also equipped with a sensor that stops the machine when the needle thread breaks or runs out.
Automatic De-Clutch Bobbin Winder
The top-loading, full rotary hook bobbin can be quickly wound with fresh thread by taking advantage of this handy, time-saving feature. Just mount a thread spool on the machine, run the thread through the guides and onto the bobbin, lock the bobbin in place and step on the pedal!
Computer Connectivity
