Review

While this model is not computerized, there is a useful stitch reference display on the front of the machine you can access for the proper tension settings and more important information for each stitch. This model also allows you to adjust the foot pedal pressure so you can sew at a comfortable speed. The downside to the Elna 664 Pro is the lack of a free arm option, which makes working on smaller projects easier.

Product Features

Adjustable Cutting Width

This feature is invaluable when you work on a variety of projects. By adjusting the cutting width of both upper and lower blades, you can ensure each seam or allowance is perfectly suited to the stitch you choose. The control dial is conveniently located on the left side of the work area and an indicator window allows you to easily view your selections.

Adjustable Differential Feed

Being able to change the differential feed settings allows you and the machine more precise control over all your sewing projects. When the feed dogs move at different speeds, they move the fabrics more smoothly beneath the needles. The differential feed can be adjusted from 0.5 mm to 2.25 mm, allowing you to create ruffled edges and will offer better control on slick knits and stretchy fabrics.

Adjustable Presser Foot Pressure

This feature is very useful if you like to work on a variety of fabric types. It keeps even the sheerest fabric under control and can be adjusted to allow the heaviest fabrics or multiple layers to move beneath the needles smoothly. While it’s not necessary to make any changes on every project, you can easily make adjustments using a control dial. Simply move the dial toward you when working on lightweight fabrics and away when using heavier fabrics.

Retractable Cutting Blade

Not every overlocker sewing project calls for trimming fabrics while stitching. Being able to retract the upper cutting knife is a useful feature when needed. You can easily deactivate the upper knife on the Elna 664 Pro by turning the upper knife release knob toward you until it locks onto the pin in the downward position.

Warranties

Elna offers a 2-year warranty on parts, electrical components and labour and a 3-year guarantee against manufacturing defects.

With features such as the colour-coded threading guide, adjustable differential feed, tilting needle clamp and self-threading lower looper, the Elna 664 Pro is a versatile overlocker for both beginners and intermediate users. This machine is solidly constructed, performs well and will offer you years of service.
