Review

The innovative features on the Baby Lock Imagine erase the frustrations of many long-time home serger users. The controls for a self-adjusting tension function and single-unit differential feed are conveniently located on the front right for easy access. And there’s a hidden accessory compartment underneath the dual spool pins of the serger. This machine is fast and stable, even at top speed, and produces reliably flawless stitches.

Stitch Options

The Baby Lock Imagine offers a variety of stitch options, including a maximum stitch width of 1.5 mm to 7.5 mm and a stitch length of between 0 mm to 4 mm. A rolled hem stitch of between 0 mm and 2 mm can be adjusted with the turn of a dial on the front of the machine. The serger offers a 3-thread rolled hem stitch and a 2- or 3-thread flatlock stitch ad many additional options.

Product Features

Tube-Encased Loopers

The Baby Lock Imagine serger includes a unique tubular loopers system that eliminates the need for dealing with thread guides, threading errors and tangled, exposed threads. Being able to thread each tube in whichever order you prefer is an additional bonus.

Jet Air Threading™

Threading a serger by hand can be difficult, but the revolutionary Jet-Air automatic threading system turns an often-time-consuming process into a one-touch function. Simply pressing the threading lever instantly sends the threads smoothly through the looper tubes without the effort of manually running it through thread guides.

Automatic Thread Delivery

Another one-touch feature is the thread delivery system which allows you to set or change the type of stitch you want. This innovative system never fails to deliver a smooth, even stitch on any type or thickness of fabric, even when using a variety of different threads.

Exclusive Looper Drive

This exclusive function prevents potential damage to the loopers by ensuring consistent looper alignment and perfect stitch timing. This not only protects your machine from requiring possible repairs, it ensures smooth, balanced stitching.

Advanced Cutting System

The knife system not only provides you with a larger cutting area, the knife is located directly next to the needles to ensure clean, even cuts. Both features allow you to cleanly cut thicker fabrics and materials with ease.

Single-unit Differential Feed

By incorporating a single-unit feed dog component into the serger, Baby Lock ensures more efficient fabric feeding and effortless, consistent gathers on all types and thicknesses of fabrics. This feature ensures a true 2:1 ratio on gathering all fabrics and a 3 to 4 ratio on stretching fabrics, even lightweight sheers and knits.

Warranties

The warranties on the Baby Lock Imagine include the exclusive package of a 25-year limited warranty on the machine, a 10-year warranty on parts, a 5-year warranty on electrical components and a 1-year warranty on labor.

Verdict

This innovative home serger isn’t the heaviest machine on the market but it provides consistently high-grade stitches while remaining quiet and vibration-free, even at its highest speed. It’s more than capable of handling very lightweight or stretchy fabrics and heavyweights like denim, leather and woolens. From its electronic foot control and state-of-the-art Jet-Air threading system to its protective tubular loopers, the Baby Lock Imagine is truly a superior serging machine.
